When everything is blanketed in snow, that’s when the winter wildlife of the Vosges reveals itself

"A little bit of Scandinavia
in the Vosges"

Vast snowy expanses. Vast pine forests. Frozen lakes. This isn’t Norway - it really is the Vosges! From October onwards the massif gradually dons its snowy mantle, and that’s certainly no reason to hide away indoors. Simply wrap up and enjoy the snowy season to the max.

Explore the Vosges at your own gentle pace

The Nordic skiing area

Bresse-Hohneck, Bresse-Lispach, Bresse-Brabant, Rouge Gazon Saint Maurice, Girmont-Val d’Ajol, the Donon, the Ventron, the Bas-Rupts Gérardmer, the Valtin, Xonrupt-Longemer... Our Nordic skiing area extends over the whole massif, winding between lakes, forests, peaks and the Ballons. The pistes, maintained on a daily basis, are suitable for all levels.

Why not try a biathlon?

In La Bresse, enjoy an introduction to biathlon with Christian Poirot, a former Olympic team member. Biathlon combines cross-country skiing with rifle shooting at a target 50 metres away. Cross-country skiing sessions alternate with the concentration of shooting either standing up or lying down. Come and see how well you manage to combine the two!

Silence, please

The creak of the snow under your skis, the rustle of the wind in the treetops, the sound of a pine cone hitting the ground... this is a place where you’ll learn to savour the silence.

Follow your route and enjoy lungfuls of fresh air

Winter in top form

"Remind yourself: Nordic skiing is good for your health! It develops your stamina, strengthens your muscles, keeps you slim, gives your joints a gentle workout, and helps you forget your stress. Nordic skiing can be enjoyed at any age, without any risk of an accident, but keeps you active: one hour of cross-country skiing will burn off between 550 and 1000 kilocalories.
Cross-country skiing is therefore a very good way of enjoying yourself, boosting your spirits and recharging your batteries, while enjoying the snowy scenery."

An explorer? Sporty by nature? Looking for fun? There’s something for everyone!

A route for everyone

Regardless of your level of ability or your taste, the Vosges Nordic skiing area is big and varied enough for everyone. Choose a gentle stroll over green pistes with some gentle upward and downward slopes, giving you time to look around and drink in the scenery. Or go for a red run extending over 20 km, with lots of climbs and descents, so you can get up high and enjoy some incredible vistas. Have a hoot at the Nordic’Park in La Bresse, and try not to fall over.

The Sotré refuge

"On the edge of the GR5, high up in the La Bresse skiing area is the Sotré refuge, an unmissable place to stop in the Vosges. Discover the “repas marcaire” in a farmhouse-inn, sleep at an altitude of 1200 metres, enjoy all-in packages with a great programme to discover the Vosges, take part in a numerous different activities (snowshoe walking, story and legend evening, Nordic walking etc.)
Note: the Sotré refuge offers stays suitable for disabled people, accompanied by family or friends."
