SAINT NABORD
THE HOUSE OF HISTORY AND HERITAGE
Description
This museum offers a rich collection of furniture, clothing and objects, immersing visitors in the daily life of Vosges people of yesteryear. A meticulous reconstruction of the interior of a Vosges house displays the kitchen, bedrooms and living areas, surrounded by a large collection of tools, books and know-how.
A model room features scale models of a paper mill, a grain mill and a blast furnace, illustrating the artisanal working methods of the past, when water was the only motive force.
Another room is dedicated to General Humbert, born in Saint-Nabord, whose fame in Ireland is marked by his victory at the Battle of Castlebar during the Franco-Irish Expedition.
Admission is free, with open house on Tuesdays in July and August (information available from the Tourist Office) and visits by appointment outside these dates.
