NEUFCHATEAU
RENAISSANCE STAIRCASE
Description
This staircase was inserted between two buildings in the 16th century in the Hôtel de Houdreville. Its restoration in 2014 made it regain its elevation and its accessibility to the lookout room on the 4th floor.
It is one of the 100 Renaissance staircases with half-turn shape and decorated ceiling in France. It is certainly the most interesting one in Lorraine thanks to its beauty and the symbolic significance of its exceptional sculpted decor. This gives access to the main floor, which reveals the concentration of decorative and emblematic effects on the second floor.
