GRAND
ONE OF GAUL'S LARGEST AMPHITHEATRES
Description
Known since the 18th century, the Grand amphitheatre has been the subject of an ambitious research program since the 1960s, revealing its colossal architecture and dimensions.
With a total length of 148 m, the amphitheater was built around an arena where gladiators, wild animals and hunters fought, and which must have been around 25 m high.
Over 17,000 spectators could be seated on the bleachers.
