DOMREMY LA PUCELLE

ST REMY'S CHURCH

Description

The St Remy’s Church in Domremy-la-Pucelle is the church of the baptism of Joan of Arc. Several times enlarged throughout the centuries, its orientation Is reversed during the 19th century. It still has vestiges from the time of Joan of Arc, including baptismal fonts. In 1955, Pierre Gaudin creates stained glass about the life of Joan of Arc to replace the ones destroyed in 1940. A reliquary bust of Joan of Arc, called “The last sigh” and made by Maxime Real del Sarte in 1929, contains dirt on which was built the pyre of Rouen.
