PLOMBIERES LES BAINS
LA CROIX DU CHÂTEAU D’Ô
Description
This cross was erected to protect the farmers' crops. Made of Niderviller sandstone, it is decorated with a crown of thorns on one side and the words INRI and a sacred heart pierced with nails on the reverse.
The base bears the date 1760 and an enigmatic phrase: "This cross was planted by J.E. Col, mother of the murdered Jacques Georges. Pray to God for his soul.
It is located on the edge of a path linking the water tower and the chapel of Notre-Dame de la Consolation de Ruaux.
It was restored in 2022 by Félix Pierré-Lecomte and Claude Burgatt, both stonemasons.
