REMIREMONT
LA FONTAINE DE NEPTUNE
Description
Located in the grounds of the Charles Friry municipal museum, this 18th-century Rocaille-style fountain has been listed as a Historic Monument since 1966. It represents Neptune, the Roman god of water, equivalent to Poseidon in Greek mythology.
Neptune lives in a sumptuous golden palace at the bottom of the oceans with his wife Salacia (or Amphitrite in Greek mythology). Together they rule over the sea deities, nymphs and creatures of the deep.
You can get to this historic work of art easily via the Musée Friry park or the Monseigneur Rodhain park. A must-see for lovers of history and culture.
