EPINAL
THE CHAPTER AREA
Description
Up to the French Revolution, a chapterhouse for canonesses was established in the city. Visitors are invited to take a walk in the district to discover the canoness homes, dated from the 16th and 18th centuries, with their colorful façades and the small green patio, which has now replaced the old convent. A part of the medieval wall, made of sandstone from the Vosges and erected in the 13th century, is a few steps away. It includes 75 meters long ramparts and three towers, one of which houses the History and Archeology Museum of Epinal.
